NEW RELEASE:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1428544 This spool holder is designed specifically for the XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 and AIO, created to meet the needs of our club's printers after we flashed them with custom firmware. We wanted to switch from one brand of filament to another, so this design was born. It can accommodate most standard-sized 3D printing filaments, but we tested it only with a 1kg spool of PLA from Hatchbox and found it worked flawlessly even with that brand's packaging. I decided to extend the design slightly to ensure all sizes of filament will fit. Mounting is easy: just hang it from one of the side holes on your printer. It fits snugly, still allowing you to move the printer around. Remember to attach this spool holder on a side opposite the X motor, so your filament won't tangle as the machine travels across the bed. Print Settings: * Printer: XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 * Rafts: Any configuration works fine * Supports: Definitely yes, use any pattern you prefer * Resolution: Print at medium resolution (0.2 - 0.3 mm layer height) for perfect results * Infill: 30-50% is the best choice if strength matters to you Notes: Be sure to include some additional support material under where the spool turns, or it won't print very well. You can experiment with different infill types and heights as you see fit.
