XYZ Calibration Stick Fries
thingiverse
This is my take on the calibration cube, a test I've devised to measure E-steps at varying distances without spending as much filament. Comes in X, Y, Z, and 40mm, 60mm, and 120mm lengths. Each stick is 5mm x 5mm in the other dimensions. For 20mm and below, I'll probably just use the standard calibration cube. The Z sticks double as a bed adhesion test too, lol. Run it without a brim to determine whether your first layer adhesion is trustworthy and reliable. If 5mm^2 proves too unreliable for testing, I may create 10mm^2 variants. In the future, I may calibrate with real, reusable cosmetic/mechanical parts, but for now, this will do. As with any benchmark, don't forget to set your slicer settings! Particularly anything for reduction of plastic use. With a 0.6mm nozzle, I print these at .28 layer height, 2 top/bottom layers, and 1 wall. WARNING: Do not eat.
