XYZ 3D Hand Scanner Base

XYZ 3D Hand Scanner Base

thingiverse

This is a holder/base for an XYZ 3D hand Scanner that serves as both a stand and a mounting tool. When not in use, it holds the scanner securely but allows for easy removal with one hand due to a slight friction fit. For vertical or horizontal scanning, you can mount this base to a tripod using a 1/4-20 nut. If you're concerned about the scanner slipping out of its holder when mounted on a tripod, you can thread the USB connector through the hole at the bottom of the mount. This will help keep the scanner in place. The holder also features a "lip" or skirt that allows for securing the scanner to a table or other surface using a spring clamp. The XYZ Scan software is available but may not be optimal for everyone. However, by downloading and installing the Intel SDK runtime for RealSense cameras, you can use alternative, more effective scanning software like ReconstructMe (http://reconstructme.net/) or Sense from 3D Systems (http://www.3dsystems.com/shop/realsense/sense), both of which are free for non-commercial use. To access these programs and others like them, download Intel's SDK for RealSense from https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk/download, where you can obtain the F200 Runtime/SDK. Print Settings: Printer: XYZ da Vinci Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 Infill: 10% Notes: I used ABS plastic with a heated build platform at 90'C and stick glue to secure the print. The process is straightforward, with no overhangs and a large base for stability. This holder requires a 1/4-20 nut for mounting to a tripod.
