XYZ 20mm Calibration Cube with magnet remix
thingiverse
Thanks to iDig3Dprinting for his fantastic xyz calibration cube, which I've printed countless times. After printing hundreds of cubes, a brilliant idea struck: modify it so that it has a practical use after the printer calibration test. With Tinkercad, I created a hole in the bottom, allowing me to insert a neodymium magnet inside. There are two versions: Round: uses 10mm height, 5mm diameter cylinder magnets Square: uses 5mm cube magnets Please note that the hole is precisely 5mm deep. You may need to calibrate your printer to ensure it prints accurate 5mm holes. As a workaround, Cura can utilize "horizontal expansion," such as -0.04 or -0.08mm. The height of the hole measures 5.2 mm for cube magnets and 10.2 mm for cylinder magnets, leaving a small space for bridging inside the xyz cube. Place the xyz cube with magnet on your refrigerator's door to hold notes, reminders, or other essentials. Handle the magnet with care, as neodymium magnets can be hazardous if ingested by children. This xyz cube can help minimize the risk of magnet ingestion. Disclaimer: Yes, I'm aware that the print quality in the pictures isn't perfect – these are test cubes printed with suboptimal settings.
