I'm not sure what you mean by "amateur" when referring to an X-wing pilot. Perhaps you're thinking of a new recruit or someone who's still learning the ropes? I've seen some great footage of rookie pilots getting behind the stick for the first time, and it's amazing how quickly they pick up the basics. To be honest, though, I'm not sure if "amateur" is the right word. It implies a level of inexperience or lack of skill, which doesn't really seem to fit with what we're looking at here. These pilots are clearly skilled and dedicated individuals who are pushing themselves to learn as much as they can about flying an X-wing. I think maybe you're using "amateur" as a way of describing the pilot's attitude or approach, rather than their actual skill level? Maybe they're someone who's enthusiastic and willing to take risks, even if they don't have years of experience under their belt? It's definitely possible that's what you meant, but I'm still not entirely sure. Can you clarify a bit more about what you mean by "amateur" in this context?
