sketchfab
Lublin expanded rapidly in the 16th century at the confluence of Bystrzyca, Czechówka, and Ciek under Konopnica, as well as to the north of the Czechówka valley. Within the city's borders lay a section of the Czechówka valley from the vicinity of present-day Spokojna Street to Zamkowy Hill, with bordering stretches of Bystrzyca's valleys in the immediate vicinity of the city and Potok under Konopnica on the stretch between Nałęczowska and Wojciechowska Streets. On Czechówka River, a pond was dammed up "behind Jews" and Lubomelski Pond, while in Bystrzyca's valley - Great Royal Pond and Wrotkowski Pond were built. Watermills operated on the dykes of ponds, and the dykes themselves were used for communication. Water from Wrotkowski Pond fed a canal called Przekop Rumny, which carried water to power water supply devices and the city mill.
