xtrhdr a geared nema23 extruder for a cupcake
cults3d
This is an extruder designed specifically for cupcake owners who wish to upgrade their current setup with a stepper extruder using affordable NEMA 23 steppers. Based on the innovative extruder from Jag, yet another filament drive system: 7113, this design incorporates a Makerbot MK5/MK6 filament drive gear, an additional Stepperdriverboard, three 606 bearings, and various nuts and bolts. The objective was to utilize an old low-torque stepper motor, paired with the Makerbot MK3 hotend (which has since been replaced) and a significant amount of plastic materials. No laser-cut parts were used in this design, making it possible to reuse components when upgrading to a more powerful stepper motor. Those who wonder why such complexity was introduced will find that it allows for the re-use of existing parts during upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions between iterations. An optional second extruder is supported, but additional work is required to bring this feature online. The current configuration relies on the experimental Stepperextruder setting from RepG 2.5, which has proven effective in my testing. While it's uncertain whether anyone will build and utilize this design, upgrading with a .35 nozzle from reprap-fab.org can result in surprisingly good prints, even from a Makerbot 3D printer from 2009. Special thanks go to the wobble arrester creator, twotimes, and natetrue for their invaluable assistance throughout this project.
