XPAD - Donkey calf raise
grabcad
Introducing a modern twist to gym equipment, the Xpad boasts a quick-release cam locking mechanism. The moulded handle features a cam that, upon being pushed into position, compresses and secures the barbell. The cam design also prevents accidental release during exercise. Components of this innovative product are made from die-cast zinc alloy or glass-filled nylon, while the pad resting on the user's lower back is padded with perforated leather, featuring a pressure-relieving cutout for the spine. By focusing on both functionality and design, I've aimed to provide a unique and efficient gym experience. Recently, I made several improvements to the Xpad's design. The outer clamping part now features a more secure attachment via four bolts hidden beneath the padding. Additionally, I increased the rubber thickness on the grips for better compatibility with various barbell diameters. A quick finite element analysis (FEA) confirmed that die-cast zinc alloy and glass-filled nylon can handle loads up to five times the required 1500lbs without issue. Dimensions of the lower back pad are pending specifications, but will be adjusted accordingly upon release.
