XP metal detector drink-coaster
pinshape
The first industrial metal detectors were developed in the 1960s and used extensively for mineral prospecting and other industrial applications. They also play a crucial role in detecting land mines, weapons such as knives and guns (especially in airport security), geophysical prospecting, archaeology, and treasure hunting. Metal detectors are used to detect foreign bodies in food and in the construction industry to detect steel reinforcing bars in concrete and pipes and wires buried in walls and floors. The simplest form of a metal detector consists of an oscillator producing an alternating current that passes through a coil, creating an alternating magnetic field. If a piece of electrically conductive metal is close to the coil, eddy currents will be induced in the metal, producing its own magnetic field. Another coil can measure this magnetic field, acting as a magnetometer, and detect the change in the magnetic field due to the metallic object. Use this coaster to house your favorite drink. This coaster has a standard size of 100 by 100 by 5 mm, designed to fit perfectly in my custom coaster holder. To print this model, I used an Ultimaker with white PLA at 0.2mm layer height and 18% infill. The nozzle was set to 0.4mm with the extruder temperature at 210 degrees Celsius. A heated bed ensured a smooth printing process. To avoid curling up at the bottom, I added a brim. The design process began by selecting a logo from my browser and converting it into an SVG file using Inkscape. The file was then opened in Blender to create a 3D object. Meshmixer was used to repair the file, erase unnecessary parts, and add a coaster. After scaling the picture, I merged it with the coaster and saved it as a STL file. To fix remaining issues, I exported the model to Netfabb Online Service, which offers an unlimited number of fixing procedures.
