XP Deus 2 Remote Case Remix
thingiverse
This is a remix of XP Deus 2 Remote Case https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5491082. It allows the antenna to be completely enclosed within the Deus shaft and case. The antenna is routed inside the Deus shaft and enters the case through a hole in the case mounting stub. The case bottom is removable so the antenna can be pulled out the case bottom and then looped back up the side antenna tube to the top of the remote. Case bodies printed using the STL’s labeled “inserts” require installation of three M3 x 5 mm OD threaded inserts. Two M3 x 6 mm long screws are used to attach the bottom. The top is attached using an M3 x 35 mm long screw or with a thumbscrew created by gluing an M3 x 40 mm long screw into the knob. Epoxy works well for installing the inserts and creating the thumbscrew. Case bodies printed using the STL’s labeled “holes” do not require threaded inserts. They have 2 mm diameter holes to allow the use of M3 sheet metal screws or self-threading screws to attach the top and bottom. This is a simpler but less durable method. There are left hand and right hand versions of the case body. These versions are angled so that the remote’s display is pointed toward the user’s face. A standard case body without the angle is also posted. The top with the extended shield is designed to protect the headphone connector when wired headphones are being used. Support is needed when printing the mounting stub on the rear of the case. The stub usually prints with rough edges, especially on the underside. An ordinary file works best at smoothing and reshaping the stub. The case wall thickness is 1.6 mm. Set the outer and inner wall thickness to 0.8 mm or greater and the case will print with solid walls. Use M3 x 6 mm long sheet metal screws to mount the case to the Deus shaft. Screws of this length will not penetrate into the hole in the mounting stub, avoiding possible damage to the antenna.
