The XM 450 is an automatic weapon that features air cooling and gas operation. It has a belt-fed system, with a traditional rotary bolt for barrel locking and conventional gas action, boasting a gas piston above the barrel. The quick-detachable barrel allows for easy replacement. This versatile weapon offers an alternative feed system that accepts disintegrating metallic belts as well as M16-type box magazines as backups. With belt feeding, the rate of fire is approximately 750 rpm, while magazine feeding achieves up to 1,000 rpm.
