You'll need: 4 x 608 roller bearings, with washers optional 24 x M8 nuts and washers 2 x threaded rods, M8 x 13in/330mm long 4 x threaded rods, M8 x 8in/200mm long Those Colorfabb 2.2kg spools are pretty massive, aren't they? It's not easy to fit them onto the side of your printer. The design we're using here is a rolling cradle for Colorfabb's Hugh Mungus-approved filament spools. We considered using 80/20 steel for the frame, but space was an issue and we had these threaded rods leftover from a 3D scanner that never got built. 1. My bearings spin freely because I assembled them fairly loosely. If you want something more solid, add washers to each side of the bearings. However, consider sanding down the pegs or scaling them for the sake of the spool's width. 2. Since my higher-ups asked about creating our own plastic hardware, I made my own spacing washers as a bonus. They're here if you want to 3D print as many parts as possible, but they're not essential to the design.
