XL Arms for Sliding Legolini Slingbow

XL Arms for Sliding Legolini Slingbow

The standard slingbow arms for the Sliding Legolini work nicely but since the rubber tubes hit the frame with any shot they wear out pretty quickly after 10-30 shots. Also adjusting the draw weight with longer or double tubes is not really fun. There are various XL arms for Legolini: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4500359 Unfortunately they only fit on a larger print bed. I went on designing my own longer slingbow arms via OpenSCAD. You can see the result in the attached images. Beside the "XL" version with an arm length of around 21 cm I have also designed an "L" version which is somewhat in between your average slingbow arm (10 cm ?) and my XL version. The XL version gives you more options to adjust the draw weight my playing around with tube and string length. I have used 12-13 cm silver on each side. I haven't done any slow motion videos while shooting by it seems that my more outward design for the string attachment seems to be reduced or even completely eliminated rubbing at the Legolini body. The XL arms have a tendency to bend upward under the strong pulling forces which can cause the string to slip over the bolt or even worse up the magazine lever bending it in place. A possible solution for this could be using a sling instead of a string with a knot that you hang into the lower part of the arm forcing the rubber to follow a more forward / downward direction and thus keeping the string on the bolt when fired. If you are not sure which version of the slingarms to use I suggest to print out both versions and experiment a bit with tube and string length. The longer arms give you more flexibility to adjust your draw weight. With 12-13 cm Thera Silver on each side as in the picture I am able to quick fire 5 bolts within a few seconds similar to the normal Legolini. The XL arms fit easily on the print bed of an Ender 3 (220x220 mm).
