XJets Outlaw250 600 mm foam RC airplane
thingiverse
This is a re-creation of RC model airplane Outlaw250, as built and flown by YouTube creator Bruce, aka XJet (RC Model Reviews and XJet channels). It's a sub-250g electric powered foam airplane with a 600 mm wing span that's easy to build and fly. We've made some key modifications to this plane. We've increased the fuselage size to accommodate a 3S 1300mAh battery, ensured straight cut lines only for simplicity, and added a slide-on fuselage for easy access to all components. You can see the full build and flight video on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/hTCotetHbsw Here are the materials we used: * 5mm Polystyrene foam from the local craft shop * EMax 2204 2300KV miniquad motor * 5x4 propeller * 3x EMax ES9051 4.3g servos * 20A ESC (we started with a 12A, but it overheated quickly) * 3S 1300mAh 25C Zippy Compact battery * 3M Blenderm tape for hinges * UHU Por glue * 3D printed motor and antenna mount The CG is at 24-36 mm (according to WinLaengs4), but we used 32mm. The AUW with the battery included is 244g. UPDATE 2019-07: After getting feedback on YouTube and experimenting, we made some key improvements: * We increased the prop slot size for better efficiency and reduced noise, thanks to Farmer Fpv's suggestion * We increased the KF step to 50% for proper function * We shrunk the fuselage after confirming correct CG * We angled the elevator slightly to reduce up-trim required
