Lens shield and 30 degree tilt mount designed specifically for Xiaomi YI camera. Lens shield fits snugly over the lens with friction, providing maximum protection while preserving camera's functionality. To attach the entire assembly, simply insert the camera into the base and loop a velcro strap around it, securing it to your quadcopter's frame. The mount is engineered to accommodate a 15mm velcro (battery) strap, ensuring easy access to the power button even when fastened to the frame. Two versions of the lens shield assembly are available - with and without side mounting slots. The latter allows for additional security by wrapping an extra velcro strap around the camera horizontally. However, this feature is not strictly necessary as the primary strap holding the mount and camera in place also secures the lens shield firmly to the camera. To safeguard your lens, cut a 31mm X 31mm piece of clear lexan (up to 2.5mm thick) and attach it to the assembly. The mounting holes are spaced in a 25mm square pattern, compatible with M3 hardware. It is highly recommended to print the lens shield in black to avoid color reflection back into the lens from the lexan shield. Optionally, use a black sharpie to color the ring around the lens as depicted in the accompanying photos. This variant is intended for use with a strap that passes through top/bottom tabs and wraps around the base and quadcopter frame. The protective lens dimension is 34x34mm, while the related base features a cutout specifically designed for the vertical lens shield. However, this style has yet to undergo flight or crash testing, potentially making it less robust than its horizontal counterpart. The failure point may lie in the tabs, which do not completely encircle the camera. For optimal results, print settings should include: Printer: M3D Rafts: Not required Supports: No Resolution: Your choice Infill: 50% or more Please note that at least three shells are recommended for added strength. Adjust infill to strike a balance between weight and durability, but prioritize a minimum of 50% - especially for the base. ABS printing may require adjustments to account for shrinkage. PLA is the only material I have tested this design with, so further experimentation with other materials is encouraged.
