Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Cliff Sensor Cover
thingiverse
My trusty Xiaomi Mi Vacuum had trouble navigating high pile carpets, thanks to its cliff sensors constantly sending out false alarms. To solve this problem, I turned to the clever solution proposed by mdpautzke and attached their custom cliff sensor covers. While these covers did make a noticeable difference, I soon realized that in certain situations they were too close to the sensors, disrupting the communication between the sender and receiver units. Building on mdpautzke's innovative idea, I decided to create my own redesign. The key change was adding a bevel to the inside of the cover, which prevented it from being attached too tightly to the sensor. This clever design feature allowed for a small gap that enabled the sender and receiver units to function properly. I tested this new design with my Xiaomi Mi Vacuum V1, and it worked like a charm. However, please keep in mind that these custom covers disable the cliff sensor, so don't use them if you need your vacuum to detect cliffs or stairs.
