Xiaomi M365 Optimized Trailer Hitch
thingiverse
After numerous iterations, this is the final product I'm proud to share with you - a highly optimized trailer hitch that packs a big punch despite its small size compared to the original design. This revised version uses an impressive 25 grams of material with dense infill and can even be printed solidly using just 50 grams. Installation requires three M3 screws approximately 20 millimeters long, which is crucial since the model measures only 12 millimeters in thickness. The screws need to be long enough to pass through the scooter frame and secure a nut on the other side. Additionally, two M3 nuts are needed for this project. Five M3 washers are optional but highly recommended to ensure stability. Fortunately, most of the necessary hardware is already attached to your scooter, including the axle screw and trailer arm mounting hole (located at the top right). This specific hole measures 10 millimeters in diameter, which perfectly fits my custom trailer mount bracket. To give you more options, I've created two nearly identical models for the left side - one with a filleted design for aesthetic appeal and the other without. I chose to use the non-filleted model as it provides the most material, making it stronger than its counterpart. For those who may be interested, I also included an earlier version of this hitch designed for the right side of the scooter. Although functional, it was not ideal due to the foot hitting the trailer arm. This version is 1 millimeter thicker and has an extra mounting hole - both features make it slightly different from its counterpart. If you'd like to take a closer look at my design process, I've included a messy Fusion 360 document for your reference.
