Wheat (Triticum ssp.), an annual grass species, can reach heights ranging from 40cm to 111cm. Its origin is traced back to Southwest Asia, where it thrives best in open fields under full sunlight and in warm, temperate climates. This versatile crop ranks second as the world's largest cereal production, only following corn. Wheat flour is used globally for bread, pasta, cakes, and cookies; meanwhile, its fermentation contributes to beer, alcohol, and vodka production. The cultivation of wheat dates back to the Neolithic period, but current production struggles to meet global demand. In fact, 2006 marked the first year where wheat demand surpassed supply, a gap that is expected to widen over time.
