Southern Mahogany, scientifically known as Eucalyptus botryoides, is a broadleaf evergreen tree that can grow up to 20 meters tall. Native to Southeast Australia's coastline from New South Wales to southern Victoria, it thrives in coastal forests, swamps, rivers, creek banks, and salt marshes on clay or sandy deep, poor soils. It is well-suited for warm, temperate climates with a salt-tolerant nature and can endure full sunlight. Also known as Bangalay, this hardy species can handle occasional flooding, waterlogged conditions, frost, drought, and is an ideal choice for marine city landscaping. It's also a timber tree that grows at a moderately fast rate, is preferred by Koalas for browsing foliage, and provides a habitat for honey production.
