Pacific Yew (Taxus brevifolia) trees are evergreen conifers native to coastal areas from British Columbia to Washington, thriving in forest and canyon environments with low to medium altitudes. They prefer shaded locations under other trees or in coves, growing well on moist/rich or rocky/gravely soils. Commonly found in forests of Ponderosa Pine, Giant Fir, and Western Larch, the Pacific Yew is poisonous but yields Taxol, a crucial component for medical compounds.
