The Oriental Platanus (Platanus orientalis), native to Southeastern Europe and the Middle East, thrives in full sun up to 600 meters altitude in a temperate, mild climate. Resistant to pollution, it has been commonly planted in city parks and avenues. However, an ongoing disease has led to the prevalence of a hybrid species (Platanus x acerifolia), resulting from crossing Oriental Platanus with American Planetree. Notably, mature Oriental Platanus trees can achieve significant height and stature.
