The Marri (Corymbia calophylla) tree is a broadleaf evergreen with a columnar height of 1.6-20 meters. Native to the southwestern region of Western Australia, it thrives in forests and coastal plains on various soils. Its warm, temperate climate allows this versatile species to grow in diverse conditions. Marri, previously known as Eucalyptus calophylla, is part of 80 Eucalypts transferred to the newly created genus Corymbia in 1995. The tree is commonly found mixed within Jarrah and Karri forests in Western Australia. Its name derives from the Nyoongar language, meaning "blood", referring to its reddish gum that oozes from the bark. While Marri trees are suitable for parklands, they are not commonly used in urban landscaping due to their large size.
