Lavandula angustifolia, commonly known as lavender, is a perennial plant that grows to a height of 46-71 centimeters. Native to the West Mediterranean, this shrub thrives in full sun and well-drained soil but can also grow on rocky terrains. It prefers warm, temperate climates and cannot tolerate frost. Lavender is valued for its fragrant flowers, which were once used by the Romans for washing. Today, it's primarily grown for ornamental purposes, although essential oil and tea with medicinal properties are also produced. As a sustainable crop, lavender doesn't require pesticides or fertilizers.
