Ficus exasperata, or Forest Sandpaper Fig, is a deciduous broadleaf tree native to Central Africa. It can be found in evergreen forests and secondary forests within a warm climate. Also known as Woudskurwevy (Afrikaans) and Msasa, the species is widespread throughout Central Africa, including countries like Mozambique, Zambia, Northern Angola, Senegal, Ethiopia, Southern Arabian Peninsula, and Southern India. The tree's leaves are rough on both sides and have various uses, such as a substitute for sandpaper and in traditional medicine.
