The Blue-Gum Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), a broadleaf evergreen, boasts a columnar height of 1.5m to 32m. Native to Tasmania and Southern Victoria in Australia, this tree thrives in grasslands, heatlands, and riparian habitats under full sun exposure on any soil type. It prefers warm, mild climates with water at its roots but is frost-intolerant. Also known as the Tasmanian Blue Gum or Southern Blue Gum, this species is widely cultivated in the Southern Pacific for its high-quality timber and Eucalyptus oil production. However, it competes aggressively for water and light, potentially overtaking native vegetation outside its native habitat. Additionally, it poses a fire risk due to excessive litter production and high water consumption that can deplete soil moisture levels. The leaf arrangement transitions from parallel in the young tree to alternate in the adult stage.
