Blackthorn, or Prunus spinosa, is a deciduous broadleaf native to Europe, ranging from Scandinavia and British Islands to Italy. It thrives in forest edges on moist, calcareous soils and requires mild, temperate, cool climates. Also known as Sloe, it's the wild plum of Europe, found throughout the continent and islands. Its thick hedges are difficult to penetrate due to sharp thorns, but its sour fruits are highly nutritious and used for jams, Gin flavoring; in the past, they were a primary food source for Vikings. Available models include 1-meter, 2-meter, and 3-meter variants.
