The Bean, scientifically known as Phaseolus vulgaris, is a herbaceous annual plant that grows between 17cm and 120cm tall. It originates from Central America and thrives in open lands with rich, fresh soils within warm, temperate climates with dry conditions. Beans are a tropical species that necessitate temperatures of at least 13°-14°C to produce an adequate yield, making them suitable for cultivation only during spring and summer. These nutrient-rich legumes provide essential vitamins, fibres, and proteins, yet in ancient times they were overlooked due to their association with the cycle of life and death. Symbolizing power during Saturnalia (similar to today's Carnival), beans were once linked to the Devil in European folklore, causing farmers to prohibit their children from playing near bean fields.
