Barley, scientifically known as Hordeum vulgare, is an annual grass that grows between 43cm to 120cm in height. Originating from the Near and Middle East, particularly Mesopotamia, barley thrives in plains, highlands, and hillsides under warm, temperate, or cool climates with low humidity. It can tolerate extreme temperatures as well. Barley is the world's fourth-largest cereal crop, often used as cattle feed but also beneficial for human health as it helps remineralize bones and prevents heart, lung, and stomach diseases.
