Lentisk (Pistacia lentiscus), an evergreen broadleaf tree/shrub, thrives across the Mediterranean region. It grows in environments such as Mediterranean scrub (maquis) and at beach edges on dry, sandy soil. Characterized by warm climates with dry summers and mild winters, this shrub (rarely a small tree) is prominent in coastal areas after sandy stretches up to arboreal formations. It possesses balsamic properties and is used for oil production, while leaves are utilized for tannin creation. Resin from the lentisk plant is employed in varnish manufacturing.
