Izembek Point, Sanak Island, Alaska. CAT# XFP-121-25 XFP-121 is a late prehistoric to contact period site located on the west side of Sanak Island. It's characterized by classic nucleus-satellite house styles found throughout the Alaska Peninsula and Unimak Island. Among the 75 depressions identified, 13 are large communal houses that dominate the landscape. Two C14 dates confirm occupation between 1450 -1650 CE. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks software. A total of 4-8 photos were used to create textures for each artifact in ZBrush. The Sanak Island artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 0326584, NSF 0508101, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, led by H. Maschner as the Principal Investigator. Original digitizing work was completed at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage. Fieldwork and analysis were conducted with permission and collaboration from the Pauloff Harbor Tribe and the Sanak Corporation.
