Sea mammal bone tool from Sanak Island, Alaska. CAT# XFP-067-3-2. XFP-067 comprises 27 depressions and pits in Finneys Cove, Sanak Island. The majority of the site dates back to around 500-200 BCE, with some occupation estimated at approximately 1300 BCE. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 4-8 photos were utilized for texture in ZBrush. The Sanak Island artifacts are presented as a result of the research conducted under grants NSF 0326584, NSF 0508101, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, led by H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. Original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Idaho State University. Subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage. Fieldwork and analysis were conducted with permission and collaboration from the Pauloff Harbor Tribe and the Sanak Corporation.
