Sanak Point, Sanak Island, Alaska. CAT# XFP-054-39-3 XFP-054 showcases an early village situated in a dune area on the south side of Sanak Island, Alaska. The dune's deflation reveals dozens of well-preserved houses and site features, clearly demonstrating the village organization of this time period between 2200 and 1600 BCE. This marks the early occupation of Hot Springs Village on the Alaska Peninsula. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing in Geomagic or Polyworks utilized 2-8 photos for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The Sanak Island artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 0326584, NSF 0508101, NSF 1139266, NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the research efforts as Principal Investigator. Original digitizing work was completed at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing was finished at Global Digital Heritage. Fieldwork and analysis were conducted with permission and collaboration from the Pauloff Harbor Tribe and the Sanak Corporation.
