Polished Slate End Blade from Sanak Island, Alaska, XFP-052-14. The XFP-052 site is a late prehistoric and early Historic site located on Sanak Island, Alaska, dating back to 1600-1800 CE. Heavy erosion has taken its toll on the site. Artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing was done in Geomagic or Polyworks. In Geomagic Wrap, 4-8 photos were used for texture. The Sanak Island artifacts are the result of research conducted under grants NSF 0326584, NSF 0508101, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner was the Principal Investigator on this project. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Idaho State University. Subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage. Fieldwork and analysis were conducted with permission from the Pauloff Harbor Tribe and in collaboration with the Sanak Corporation.
