The Xenoberts are sent in as an infiltration platoon. They crawl through the dank sewers of prestigious cities. They stalk in the darkness waiting for their moment to pounce. A host can only be infected with one Xenobert embryo at a time. Over the initial three months of infection, the embryo moves into the chest cavity, gestates, and matures into a Xenobert tadpole. In the 24-hour period before giving birth, the host starts to feel unwell, their speed is halved, and it has disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. At birth, the tadpole chews its way through vital organs and out of the host's chest cavity in 1 round, killing the host in the process.
