The Ethereals wield formidable powers as psionically gifted leaders of the alien invasion, though their fragile physical forms belie their strength. Extremes of age or the crushing energy demands imposed by their vastly developed cerebral capacities have left their bodies shockingly weakened, with several organs noticeably underdeveloped and numerous sensory organs functioning at a mere fraction of their capacity. Strikingly resilient in combat settings despite their pronounced infirmity, the Ethereals' incredible mental abilities can single-handedly decimate an entire XCOM squad in a matter of minutes.
