Izembek Point Base XCB-003-911.\nXCB-003, or IZM-003, was extensively tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. This site serves as the definitive type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village featuring a one-of-a-kind whalebone house and numerous artifacts closely related to those found in the Bristol Bay region showcases its unique character. It is estimated that this village dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE.\nThe Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the research efforts as Principal Investigator. High-quality digitization was achieved using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Further processing and refinement were carried out in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos were utilized for texture mapping in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was completed at the IVL, located within Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were accomplished at Global Digital Heritage.\nMcCartney's findings are detailed in his 1974 paper titled Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula, published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Additionally, Maschner presents his research in a notable article, doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
