Izembek Point XCB-003-833. XCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site that A.P. McCartney tested in 1971. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. The site features a small village with a unique whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. It dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266 and NSF 1321411 by H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing was done in Geomagic or Polyworks, with 2-8 photos used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was conducted at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing and publication completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's research is documented in APUA 16(1):59-84, published in 1974. Maschner's findings are available online, with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 for his Arctic Anthro article, published on January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
