Fish Tail Style Point, XCB-003-710, Likely 400-1 BCE\nXCB-003, or IZM-003, was thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. This site served as the primary reference point for the Izembek Phase. The village at this location featured a distinct whalebone house and numerous artifacts that closely resembled those found in the Bristol Bay region. It is estimated to date back approximately 1200-1350 CE.\nThe Alaska Peninsula artifacts were carefully compiled from research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this investigation as the Principal Investigator. The artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing was completed in Geomagic or Polyworks, with 2-8 photos used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were accomplished at Global Digital Heritage.\nMcCartney's groundbreaking research was published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974, under the title Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula.
