Human: End Blade Tip. XCB-003-670. XCB-003, or IZM-003, is a site meticulously tested by renowned archaeologist A.P. McCartney in the year 1971. This site serves as the definitive type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village featuring an exceptionally unique whalebone house and numerous artifacts strikingly similar to those discovered in the Bristol Bay region showcases its distinctive characteristics. Dating approximately 1200-1350 CE, this remarkable find has significantly contributed to our understanding of Alaska's prehistoric past. The fascinating Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of comprehensive research conducted under esteemed grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, the Principal Investigator, spearheaded this project with unwavering dedication. These artifacts were meticulously scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Subsequent processing and publication were expertly completed in Geomagic or Polyworks. A minimum of 2-8 high-quality photos were utilized for texture enhancement in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was meticulously executed at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing and publication were finalized at Global Digital Heritage. Notable contributions to this research include the seminal work by McCartney, published in APUA 16(1):59-84, as well as the groundbreaking study by Maschner, accessible via doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111.
