Retouched Obsidian Blade XCB-003-664. XCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site extensively explored by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the reference point for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a distinctive whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region exists at this site. This dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner is the Principal Investigator for this project. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 2-8 photos were used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Id St Univ, and subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., conducted a study titled Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula in 1974, published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's research is documented as doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 in Arctic Anthro, January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
