Izembek Point XCB-003-611 is a site that was thoroughly tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. The location serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase and features a small village with a unique whalebone house, along with numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. This village dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. Research conducted under various grants from NSF has led to the presentation of Alaska Peninsula artifacts. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, spearheaded this research effort. Artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i and processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. For texture, 2-8 photos were used in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was carried out at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication took place at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's prehistoric cultural integration study along the Alaska Peninsula was published in APUA in 1974, spanning pages 59-84 of volume 16(1). Maschner's research on Arctic Anthro, January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, covered pages 98-111 and is accessible through doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007.
