Adze Blade XCB-003-559. XCB-003 or IZM-003 is thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971 at a well-documented site. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase, a small village with an extraordinary whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. The village dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented due to extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 by H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were processed in Geomagic or Polyworks, utilizing 2-8 photos for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P., examines prehistoric cultural integration along the Alaska Peninsula in his 1974 article "Prehistoric Cultural Integration Along the Alaska Peninsula" published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's research is also documented in "Arctic Anthropology," Arctic Anthro. January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111, DOI: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007.
