End Blade Tip XCB-003-513 XCB-003 or IZM-003 was thoroughly tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971 at the site. This location serves as a type-site for the Izembek Phase, a period characterized by unique whalebone houses and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. Dating from approximately 1200-1350 CE, these artifacts provide valuable insights into the lives of ancient inhabitants. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts were extensively researched under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, led this research endeavor. The artifacts were meticulously scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i scanner. Subsequent processing was conducted in Geomagic or Polyworks, while texture was applied using 2-8 photos in Geomagic Wrap. Initial digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent analysis and publication completed at Global Digital Heritage. A.P. McCartney's findings were published in his 1974 paper, "Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula," appearing in APUA 16(1):59-84. H. Maschner's research was later showcased in Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2, with a doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007.
