Xbox One Video Game Controller Adapter (Suction Cup Mounting)
thingiverse
Video games open doors for individuals with disabilities to experience situations that may be challenging or limited in everyday life, provide opportunities for social networking to maintain mental and emotional well-being, and allow people to participate in one of the world's largest hobbies. While video game controllers offer precise movement controls, holding a traditional controller and accurately pressing trigger buttons can be difficult. A common strategy is to secure the controller to a flat surface in front of the gamer by taping it down. The purpose of this project is to enable the top surface (where all the buttons are) of an Xbox One controller to sit flush against this surface, with trigger button inputs being translated onto the same surface. To print this adapter, the minimum required print bed size must be 8" x 8". This version features four rubber suction cups screwed into the bottom of the adapter, which is then placed on a playing surface in front of the gamer. For an alternative design that countersinks the adapter into the surface, see another project on this account. Detailed assembly instructions can be found in the "Assembly Manual" .pdf. This prototype was printed using 1.75 mm PLA filament at 210° print temperature, 60° bed temperature, 0.2mm layer height, and 50% infill.
