Xbox One Privacy Cover for Kinect

thingiverse

This is a custom privacy cover designed specifically for the Xbox One Kinect console. The entire project consists of just two components that can be printed with minimal preparation, without the need for any external support materials. As for extra parts required for assembly, the only things you'll need to print are those already listed in this document. One unique feature worth noting is that the hinge connecting the cover's pieces offers full range of motion. On one hand, it can move downwards to assume a private stance, but on the other hand, it seamlessly flips up when the viewing position is desired. Upon installation onto the end of your Kinect, you'll find it convenient that this accessory allows for complete removal whenever necessary - all without causing any damage in the process. I've had personal experience with using this design and can attest to its smooth operation. Instructions In an effort to ensure trouble-free printing, I have carefully designed these parts to require minimal supports during fabrication. For my own tests, I employed a 5% infill rate using PLA filament supplied by the reputable Makerbot brand on their fifth-generation 3D printer. One aspect that simplifies the assembly process is the fact that the two components print independently before coming together as one working unit. Build Position: For printing the back piece of this privacy cover, align it so its short, flat side lies firmly against the build plate. Although this arrangement might initially place the hinge at the top of the assembly, you'll be happy to know there's no need for external supports to maintain structural integrity. Similarly, when positioning the front piece in preparation for printing, make sure its hinges face upwards as well, since these two parts print separately before snapping into place during the final assembly phase.
