Additional paddles for the standard Xbox One controller. They transfer the bumpers (RB/LB) to the bottom of the controller and enable you to use the middle fingers for quick and easy action. They also enable you to reach the opposite bumper when playing single-handed.

The design uses a replacement battery cover as the mounting point, so it is very easy to install and remove - just replace the original battery cover with the paddles set. The battery cover is remixed from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4093750

The project was designed for the Third Generation (2016) of Xbox One controllers but it will probably fit the earlier Xbox One versions too.

Details

There are two designs of the paddles: Cross and Normal.

The Cross paddles have a more natural way of handling, but the buttons are swapped (RB is activated by the left finger, and LB by right). However, in many cases it either does not matter or you can easily remap the keys in the game or by using the Xbox Accessories app.

The Normal paddles do not have this nuisance, but they require a different way of operation that may be more difficult to get used to.

All the other parts are interchangeable, so you can easily print both versions and see which one suits you best.

Print settings

Print all the elements in the provided position with 0.15mm layer height or less.

For the paddles use at least 3 perimeters or 100% infill to make them strong.

The paddles and the battery cover require supports to print correctly.

Post-Printing

After printing you should use a drill bit to make the holes round and smooth:
– paddle__lower.stl and battery_cover.stl - use a 7mm drill bit
– paddle__upper.stl - use a 6mm drill bit
The paddles should move freely on the shaft, but with minimum play. If they are too tight the buttons may not have enough force to spring back and cause binding.

To assemble, first insert the bolt all the way into the hole in the cover - the square part should sit flush with the bottom of the cover. Secure it with a drop of glue.

Next, mount the lower and the upper paddle on the bolt - make sure the small pins on the cover fall into the corresponding recesses in the paddles.

Finally secure the paddles with the nut.

Additional

You can see the paddles in action here:

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS7YcytQpQE"></oembed>

The paddles can also be used along with the mini steering wheel for easy gear shifting or clutch/handbrake.
