Xanthor Beast - The Harbinger of Chaos The Xanthor Beasts are feared minions of Dr. Goggles. Their goal is to spread chaos throughout Modiopolis, the cybernetic city. Ultimately, they seek to conquer and claim the city as their own territory. These brutish creatures possess a fearsome insect-like head with powerful jaws and four razor-sharp reptilian tentacles that can snap victims in two. A venomous scorpion tail rounds out their formidable arsenal. The Xanthor Beast feeds on instilling terror among Modiopolis citizens, leaving the city in ruins as they go. These marauding creatures abhor the fairies roaming the woods beyond the city limits. Their stingers have a special gift: transforming the fairies into identical replicas of themselves to amplify their numbers. The Xanthor Beasts relish in demolishing Modiopolis residents, reassembling them into battle-hardened soldiers for Dr. Goggles' army. Design Model Inspiration I initially conceptualized my creation within the second day of this design challenge. Using only the components found within the Modio app, anyone can replicate this creature using those materials or printing directly from these files provided here. Upon completing the design, I chose to delve into crafting a captivating narrative set amidst existing characters within the Modio universe. Perhaps this fictional world would ignite imagination and motivate young creatives to build their own custom models. Printer Settings I fabricated my model on a MakerBot Replicator 2 to adhere to contest "Judging" criteria while ensuring prints fit within 10cmL x 10cmW x 12.5cmH dimensions defined by the contest objective. For aesthetic effect, I chose to use True Black and Glow-in-the-Dark filament; other hues may also be employed for this build. Instructions If using multiple color filaments in printing the model parts: • Utilize Black colors on files numbered 1-5 • Assign Red coloration to File number 6 • Choose Green or Glow-in-the-dark filament settings for prints files numbered 7 through 10 • Finish by selecting True Red for the remaining part (File Number 11) Original Model Scale Output Upon importing this file into Modio, I found a full-sized replica generated with scale output set at @100%. Infill Percent Adjustments As mentioned previously, make sure to raise the infill percent on your separate build plates for leg and arm assembly components due to an insufficiency in material. The infill should be higher if you have encountered these breakages from printed plates. Note: These may need separate rafts if so chosen, although I personally decided not to implement any rafts with the print settings here.
