Xacto collet CNC steps/mm calibration aid
prusaprinters
I wanted a very fine pointer to use while calibrating the steps/mm on my X-Carve CNC. This little adapter allowed me to fit the collet of an Xacto knife into the stock 1/4" collet of the Dewalt router. I could then use it as a very precise pointer to a ruler with 0.5mm gradations on the bed and adjust steps/mm. I've found this works better than a V-bit, it's a sharper point and since it's flat it's easier to sight. Note that this is NOT to be used to try to hold the knife for actually cutting on the CNC - that wouldn't work, it's not spring loaded and the tip of the blade isn't centered. Don't try that.
