X8R, L9R receiver antenna holder (FrSky) Foldable version
thingiverse
I'm really digging the original design, but I've got a requirement: it's gotta fold so the plane fits snugly in its travel case! That folding plane has made me appreciate a collapsible antenna holder - anything less just won't cut it! Now, about this custom-made holder - technically speaking, I drew every single detail from scratch to mirror the original design's dimensions as closely as possible. But if this was simply a flat-cut piece taken straight from the front, screwing that bolt in would warp the joint and compromise the friction it needs. No worries, though! If you're concerned about stripping the threads or messing with your antenna wires, just go ahead and give 'em a file job - I figured you might need to, so I left some extra breathing room around that screw. I beefed up the material on that joint, too; we all know it's the weakest link. Guess what? "In Progress" is a relic of the past - this design's working like a charm for me now. The reinforced pivot point gives it the strength I was after, and while I recommend providing some support underneath the joint during print time to prevent wonky holes, ABS printing with low speed seems to do the trick just fine. One final thing: pictures may still look like an old draft; those I uploaded don't fully show off the updated reinforcement in action. So, more shots are coming down the pipeline! Assembly Steps: Slide an M3 bolt into place between these two components - this will hold and add extra grip to that joint. Since it encircles your antenna wires, clamping will give it that necessary friction right at the weak point!
