X8R case
thingiverse
I crafted a custom case for my trusty X8R receiver, tailored specifically to its unique features. Since my receiver boasts PCB antennas, I had to get creative with the design. Fortunately, the tight fit on the PCB antenna covers wasn't a deal-breaker, even when solder blobs connected them as one of mine did. With some careful manipulation, I was able to slide them into the protective casing without having to resolder anything. To ensure a snug fit, I designed the case with extra length, guaranteeing a secure hold. I printed my custom case out of high-quality ABS plastic and took extra precautions to reinforce any weak spots. The design cleverly leaves the smart port freely accessible, making it easy to use while keeping the receiver safe. Update: I've since uploaded a revised V2 version of the design, which features deeper grooves for the wires and narrower PCB antenna protectors at the end. These changes make it easier to "clip" the antennas into place. Additionally, the locking tab has been slightly taller to provide an even more secure lock on the X8R receiver.
